Hot indie gospel label SoulMuzick Recordings serves up a contentious compilation that takes the gospel to the streets
Houston, TX. - - - - SoulMuzick Recordings is on a mission to take the gospel to the streets by force.
Knowing that it is up against a religious establishment that is not welcome to change, Simon "Crazy C." Cullins Jr., the label's co-founder believes that with the power and wisdom of God it can be done. The label's third release, a compilation entitled "street gospel," encompasses the direct vision of the company. That vision is to bring Christ to people who do not ordinarily go to church or do not like the traditional music that comes from the church. The method of accomplishing this mission, Simon believes, is to meet people where they are, show them how much God loves them and tell them that he wants to be a part of their lives.
The compilation includes a diverse community of artists such as Tre-9, Son of Jesse, Tragedy, Nuwine, Mr. Madd, Chamillionaire, Bryan Wilson, Tha Truth, Shei Atkins, Sounds of Urban Life, and Gary Mayes & Nu Era. Each artist shares the gospel in a unique way from HipHop to Urban Contemporary to CCM. The production is top notch by new comers Dratoven and Gary Mayes along with seasoned veterans Crazy C. and Leon Lewis.
The envelope is pushed and Christ is taken out of the box to minister to a generation that is tired of church as usual, devoid of any relevance. Staying true to scripture, but different in approach, Simon hopes to give today's generation a real alternative to the message currently being carried by many of today's artists. The only way to do this, is to go into the world spreading the message of the kingdom, by bringing the sanctuary to the streets.
