Run Turkey Run by The Rob Beadle Triangle Band is a cheesily cheerful Christmas cracker served on a fruity compote of Latino infused beats with a darkly humourous stuffing.
The English tradition of eating a huge Roast Turkey at Christmas is warped horribly by this song about a boy who ends up eating his favourite pet. Eeuw!
The music fuses Latin-American and Afro-Cuban influenced rhythms with Western Pop and Rock idioms - seasonal bells, both sleigh and tubular, dance hand-in-hand with the guiro and clave.
Lounge stylee vocals croon away over the verses and choruses, punctuated by altogether more malevolent bridge sections.
To close, a short, tongue-in-cheek guitar solo accompanied by angelic backing vocals takes us up to the gothic requiem finale.
