Funk Hip-hop Jazz Featuring original players from Herbie Hancock's Headhunters, James Brown, Maktub, Parliament, Funkadelic, and Les Claypool's Frog Brigade.

Funk legends Mike Clark and Paul Jackson are back in the mix like 1976, adding their signature Headhunter's grooves. Reggie Watts (2003 Seattle Weekly Artist of the Year) steps up to vocal duty on the opening title track. Reggie has been compared to both Marvin Gaye and Al Green, so be prepared for a forecast of funk and soul when he lets it rain. Sounding like vintage Average White Band, Alex Veley joins in on vocals for "The Lifestyle".

Dynamic fender rhodes playing from Seattle area piano men Alex Veley and Darius Wilrich sparkle throughout the album. Sax prodigy The Gould Effect adds layers of Afro-Beat inspired horn lines. Toad the Wet Sprocket alum, Randy Guss, busts some sly beats while experimental trumpeter Jim Knodle blows musical butterflies into the air.

"Juicy jams for toasty weather. Hot dogs ridin' baked beats. Settle into your summer with this laid-back collection of slinky grooves." - LL, Amoeba buyer

Smoking! Mike Clark and Paul Jackson sound incredible rocking it over these "Headhunter" style grooves. The vocalists are absolutely top knotch, Reggie Watts from Soulive and Alex Veley from Maktub. That's like Marvin Gaye singing with Al Green, these are two modern soul giants. I'm not familiar with all the players work, but Darius Wilrich burns on the electric piano and the trumpet player, Jim Knodle, sounds like Miles. A tight purchase for anyone interested in progressive hip-hop, soul, fusion, rock, or funk.
Like going to a music school for the hip.
