Ambient psychedelic dreamscapes, pastoral electronica.
The CD and the band are both named “Rivers And Skiesâ€. The CD has 18 tracks, totaling over 66 minutes long. We describe the music as “pastoral electronicaâ€ - an ambient, dreamy, instrumental journey into a calm, alert, gently mind-expanded space that flows like, well, rivers and skies. It's perfect for deep listening, or for creating an atmosphere for reading, writing, painting, conversation, sipping tea, laying on the floor, or anything else that suits you...
Rivers And Skies are: Jim Whisenant - Chapman Stick, electric cello, programming and processing; Jim Buhrendorf - electric, acoustic, slide, lap steel and 12-string guitars; and Ed Blomquist - electric bass and guitar, synth, winds, programming and processing.
Blending stringed instruments with computer-based digital signal processing results in a mix of the best of both analog and digital soundworlds. The design of the CD cover, with beautiful moody photos from Canada and Finland, complements the vibe of the music perfectly.
One listener said: "I think Rivers and Skies sounds amazing; it's beautiful and relaxing, but it also has that much-desired "aliens landing" feel to it. I've only listened to it twice but it's already in the rotation with Eno's On Land, The Pearl, Harold Budd + John Foxx's Drift Music, etc... "
Another said "it's provided a soothing effect against all the holiday related stress for me lately..." |
