KOHALA's gentle jazz arrangements for acoustic and classical guitars reflect the exotic pristine beauty of the region on the Big Island where the 3 members live. Lead guitarist Charles Michael Brotman met guitarists Charlie Recaido and Kevin Teves when he moved from Honolulu to the Big Island in the early '90s. Kevin and Charlie both grew up in Hawaii playing island music with a finger picking style on steel-string acoustic guitars.
Charles is a classical guitarist. The combination of their diverse musical influences has created a truly unique sound that crosses over between the genres of Jazz, Contemporary Hawaiian, and New Age. KOHALA's fans include people of all ages who appreciate the beauty of acoustic instruments and great guitar playing.
Their most recent release, "Back To Kohala", is their fifth album released in the U.S. and Japan.
