Transmit is a manufactured audio production by Werner Hasler (Switzerland) and Sunao Inami (Japan):
Sunao and I met for maybe ten minutes in real life, somewhere in a club. We were introduced, had a chat, split with an agreement to exchange and never met again.
The music you hear was uploaded and transmit. We did not talk about it, neither we had any common musical plans. The same file only went one way so there was no control about what happened with it later. I downloaded sounds, soundscapes and half finished tunes of his and uploaded my work.
After Downloading I listened, then cut and shaped, took extracts and looped parts.
I added my own sounds from different sources as deverse treatments of my trumpet, samplings and analogue synthezising. I created arrangements by playing with colours of sounds, cutting some of them and putting the whole thing in a frame of rhythm and melody, or using it as a frame for additional rhythms and melody.
The completely unguided and unrestricted use of Sunaos very pesonal, though for me unfamiliar ideas was a very refreshing way of working. A work with an existing personality yet virtual partner. Pure input , no restriction.
