Flamenco and Metal fusion. True flamenco guitar and rhythms-mixed with very progressive shred metal. In this highly adventurous disc, Flametal proves to be the new blacksmiths of technical, worldly metal.
FLAMENCO and METAL unite to form the unholy. A new sound, and a fresh take on live performance, Flametal explodes with fiercly original and technical artistry. Live performances includes a full, shredding metal band, with lyrics sung in spanish and english, professional (and sexy) flamenco dancers in original choregraphy with flamenco guitar at the helm. Flametal delivers a fusion of 50% flamenco, and 50% metal, and does not claim to be either, but both. Real flamenco, contains the 3 elements of Cante(sing), Baile(dance), and Toque(guitar), and flametal only uses the guitars, dance/palmas and tradtional rhytmical forms of flamenco. Put this into a real metal environment: loud, evil, and technical, and you get FLAMETAL---something very unique.

Since we are not signed to any label, all proceeds from this self-produced album go directly back to the artist, not some greedy, corporate record label. The concept of FLAMETAL, all music, artwork, and horror stories are by Benjamin Woods, Flametal 2005.
BENJAMIN WOODS' FLAMETAL BIO:
"Born is Seattle, I taught myself to play guitar by listening and playing along with Iron Maiden albums. Soon after, I was playing speed metal and in a short time, it stopped being a challenge. My junkie roommate stole all my electric guitar gear forcing me to play my speed metal tunes on all I had left, a classical guitar. It literally struck a chord in my head and I started to pursue flamenco in hopes that I could make my electric guitar sound more original. Little did I know I would be swept up by this incredible art and transformed into a flamenco guitar soloist and accompanist, having the utmost respect for its high level of virtuosity and profound expression. After 8 years of flamenco study and ongoing performances, I finally went to Spain where I felt strangely at home and accepted. When I returned, I remembered my original idea and finally having the musical maturity in both genres, I created Flametal. My intention is not to dilute or steal flamenco, but to open the minds of others to its beauty, while simultaniously staying true to my metal roots." |
