Coba represents a unique and modern contribution to South American songwriting. Coba performs contemporary songs inspired, mainly but not exclusively, in old Colombian traditions.
Coba is a New York-based ensemble featuring compositions and arrangements by guitarist Sebastian Cruz. Coba represents a unique and modern contribution to South American songwriting. Coba performs contemporary songs inspired, mainly but not exclusively, in old Colombian traditions. Sebastian Cruz Started performing and composing at age 16 in Colombia with various rock bands playing in local venues and city festivals. Since moving to New York in 1997, Sebastian performs regularly with traditional and contemporary Colombian music ensembles including "La Cumbiamba Eneye," "Pablo Mayor's Folklore Urbano" -appearing on their album - with "Clesicos del despecho en la voz de Luca Pulido," and with "Coba" which he leads. He is also musical director for Luca Pulido's Colombian music project. As a composer he has won an ASCAP award for the composition of a song for theatre, and composed a short piece for Holly Page Joyner's documentary for Sundance channel "Pack, Strap, Swallow." |
