Sounds of Now's melodic debut is an reflective, incantory jazz statement/stained with shards of experimental folk: blackbirds pecking at broken glass/in a New York City cornfield.

RECORDINGS

"It reminds me of Paul Klee's work. Especially his painting "Sinbad the Sailor". If I had to describe the album right now, I'd say it's a rockudrama starring Popeye on guitar, Cannonball Adderly on sax, A. Serpent on bass, and Max Roach on drums." Ben Breitinger

STYLE - GENRE
Sounds of Now plays Garage or Broken Jazz or simply Creative New Music. In concert we focus on bringing the pure energy of rock and the incantory side of jazz to melodic songs. We aim for a sound that is primal, elegant & dynamic.

The album, while featuring songs from the live set, is more reflective, pastoral and moody, colored by shades of folk, classical and experimental music. Arabian & even Appalachian styles & sketches draw us onward.

QUOTE from Bill
Someone wrote that poet Arthur Rimbaud was 'a savage in a mystic state'. His poetry hit my young mind in a heavy way. I also wanted to do something rare and very clear. While reading Kerouac and writing songs by the bridges & rivers of Pittsburgh I had a mapbook of South America & other lands I would plan trips across in my mind. Images from those days still set-up themselves in the songs. Early angles & pre-occupations have been hard to get away from, so I've tried to head towards them.
