A clever blend of Rock, Classic Rock and pop.
Alain Pernot is a Montreal based singer, songwriter, producer. Moments and segments of human behaviour, fill the well that Alain draws from to write songs. His music strives to connect to the soul and hopefully shed some light on its darker areas. His musical style could be qualified as pop rock with groove. The hooks and melodies in Alain's songs are undeniable. With Musical Influences that range from Seal, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Daniel Belanger, Sheryl Crow, Kiss, Van Halen to Rush. His music is up to date, but reminiscent of the great sound of the 70's.
Alain's musical career started at age 17. Fresh out of high school, Alain already had is goals set... become a professional musician.
The first move that led to some recognition, was entering with some high school buddies, a high exposure national contest which got the new band their first record deal. That venture didn't get very far, but hey! have to start somewhere. And the intro to one of the band's songs did get picked up for an ad bumper for NHL's Hockey Night in Canada.
The next project Alain formed was a cover band that led him to tour round Quebec and acquire a deeper understanding of song writing, for the focal point in Alain's musical quest is song writing.
After 3 years of solid touring, Alain feels the need to put together a band that would serve the purpose of behind a vehicle for original material. A turn that took him on a 7 year long ride of touring and recording in the quest of striking an international record deal. The band had the chance to work with some of the top producers and managers in America. But due to a strange twist of faith the project aborted with a finished album that was never released.
A little dazed by circumstances, Alain decides to go back to music school to seek a deeper understanding of music theory. The schooling lasted 2 years and opened up whole new horizons.
Shortly after his stint in school, Alain was approached by Luck Mervil to join the ranks of is group: "Rude Luck". His stay of 5 years with the band got him to participate to two of the band's albums and tour Canada, France and Belgium. During the same period, up and coming singer Elyzabeth Diaga who's debut album was produced by Yves Frulla (Celine Dion's keyboard player), called upon Alain to write material for her up and coming album, from which 2 of Alain's songs went top 10 on national radio. Elyzabeth was also nominated for most promising artist on "Le Gala de l'adisq": Quebec's top music award show. Alain also became well known in the Quebec music scene for having played along side some of the top and most respected artists. Artists like, Petro Guelfucci, Marie Michelle Desrosiers, France D'amour, Jim Corcoran, and the list goes on, all have at one point relied on Alain's guitar playing and singing to assist them.
For the last 4 years or so, Alain has also been doing a lot of commercial studio work and playing local R N' B gigs with "Dorian Sherwood and the next".
Now Alain feels the urge to showcase his own music to the world. "Between time and space" marks a new phase in Alain's career, one that unvails is creativity, like few have heard it before. |
