Temika Moore-She's savvy, sexy, sophisticated, and undoubtedly one of the most versatile, soul-stirring Contemporary Jazz/Soul vocalists to grace the eastern seaboard. Temika's range and interpretive style is as impressive as those of Rachelle Ferrell, Diane Reeves, Maysa, Cassandra Wilson, Angie Stone, Angela Winbush and Mariah Carey to name a few.
If you are fortunate to have an opportunity to see her perform live, you are in for a life changing experience. Often interacting with her audience sharing personal stories of hope, struggle and perseverance, you will experience an intimate evening of music and inspiration that is sure to leave you wanting more, moving you to action.
Temika started her music career at the famed Philadelphia High School for Creative & Performing Arts, where she shared the stage with world-renowned artists Boyz II Men, Amel Larieux, The Roots members, Black Thought ,Joey DeFrancesco and Christian McBride. During that time, Temika had the opportunity to perform with the Philadelphia Pops Orchestra, as well as having solo performances at the Philadelphia Mayoral Inauguration. Temika has been among the many celebrity-invited guests to perform for ABC MasterCard Thanksgiving Day Parades, in addition to securing first place in numerous vocal competitions, including the legendary Apollo Theatre. For her accomplishments as an extremely diverse and mature performing vocalist, Temika was awarded and became the first recipient of the coveted Ella Fitzgerald Music Scholarship Award.
The title of her debut album is derived from her personal journey to find peace and truth in her spiritual and professional life. What better title to introduce the listener to an intimate musical experience with Ms. Moore. Temika wants the listener to walk away with a sense of empowerment as stated in the third track of this CD, "No longer will I look for others to validate me, it's my life and I know what I want it to be-I'm so glad I found peace of mind!" These offerings are deeply personal and can be categorized as what she calls "so-jazz"-soulful contemporary jazz inspired music. |
