Dear Betty,
I received my Volume One CD yesterday and can't tell you how excited I am. I was also surprised to find out how many of the songs I recognized. The main song I wanted the CD for was "The Little Blue Man". I am curious to know what inspired that particular song. I first heard "The Little Blue Man" at about the age of 10 years and can remember my mother driving to a neighboring city in Alabama to get a copy of the record for me. I drove my parents and four siblings crazy with singing the song. We were moving to across the states to Texas, and with five children in a car, we were each only aloud to take one item with us. All the rest went in the moving van (including the record player) so I am not sure why I insisted on taking the record in the car. I placed it carefully in the back window so as not to break it. I checked on the record and found it warped two days into the trip. Being a Military family, moving was never a problem, just a new adventure, but this time turned tragic with the warping of the record. My mom said she would get me a new record when we got settled, but shortly after moving both our parents were killed in a car accident. I never did get another record, but never forgot the words of the song. For years I sang it to my own two children and of course when the grandchildren came along, I sang it to them. I am anxious to visit my daughter and take the CD with me in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure my daughter will see the joy in it, but my eight year old granddaughter will be delighted. Janet |
