"Smart, roomy....Natalia Zukerman's wise-beyond-her-years debut is simply in no hurry to win you over by force. Instead, Zukerman allows listeners to come to her at their own pace with her roomy arrangements, prose-style phrasing, and the come-hither sultriness of her slinky, earthy vocals. It's a record that seems to want play hard-to-get- and you know that drives you crazy. From the moody trip-hop of "If You're Going to Try," to the two-step, Nashville detour of "Dancing Shoes," Zukerman flirts with different genres throughout Mortal Child. Zukerman brims with confidence. And you know that drives you crazy, too." -Performing Songwriter (May/June 2002)

"Dido, Sophie B. Hawkins, and Natalia Imbruglia...take cover. Fans of mellow guitar riffs and delicate voices...take heed. Think summer evenings with a glass of wine, think perusing the Sunday Times on a lazy afternoon, think a long, quiet drive out to the Hamptons, think Natalia Zukerman."-www.femalemusician.com/zuckerman_review.htm

"I am listening to Natalia's CD right now...and it kicks ass. The thing that Natalia and Shawn Colvin have in common, besides the artistic use of the guitar, is that she is a pleasure to listen to. By singing in a way that shows that she takes life's challenges in stride, she doesn't mope and complain like some artists can tend to do. It shows her inner strength. Fantastic!"-
Brad Koester, President of cdstreet.com

"With most of the songs on "Mortal Child" approaching the four to four and a half minute mark, Natalia has allowed herself the time to create an entire atmosphere within each of these spaces. She doesn't come in, bombard you with something for three minutes and then disappear without a trace, forcing you to get up and play the song again if you haven't had enough. No, Natalia leaves one with the feeling that she's stopped by for a couple shots of Jack and hung out for a while, leaving the listener with an unusual sense of familiarity." The Scribe

"Natalia is a true poet. Her guitar work is dazzling in its intricacy, her voice deeply moving. Passionate and spirited, Natalia's songs touch you profoundly with their honesty and richness. Her voice is refreshing, angelic and soulful, with a sweetness that is intoxicating and a sexiness that thrills. She brings her guitar to life with superior complexity while mingling jazz, folk, classical and Latin flavors. Her songs remind us of the excitement found in far away places and new people, the pain we endure while growing more comfortable in our skins, and the complicated love that fills us when we return home again.
-Lauren Rubin, New York Daily News)

"Good stuff! A Rickie-Lee-Jones-meets-Tori-Amos."-Susanne Millsaps

"Natalia has made a great CD, I've been playing it in the truck almost non-stop around town this last month. Her sound reminds me of both Ani Difranco (as far as music) and Juliana Hatfield (as far as vocally). Part of Natalia's charm is her somewhat more girly singing voice, and she uses it effortlessly without sounding at all whiny (Hatfield's problem). A for the music, the songs are an interesting blend of folk, pop, and rock, and maybe some country too, towards the middle of the album."-Percygrrrl, Indie Music Reviews,

"Mortal Child," the debut solo album of Natalia Zukerman is songs of youth, family, love, courage and beauty. With the unique and accomplished guitar style that her audience has come to expect from her mostly solo, acoustic shows, Natalia is joined on the album by an impressive line-up: Paulo Baldi (Deadweight, Liar, The Eric McFadden Experience, The Faraway Brothers) on drums and percussion, Ed Ivey (The Faraway Brothers, Los Mex Pistols Del Norte) on bass, guitarist Andrew Freeman ,Producer Cookie Marenco on accordian, flutist Eugenia Zukerman (www.eaugeniazukerman.com), and singer/songwriter Erika Luckett on vocals and guitar.

Natalia comes from a long-line of musicians. The daughter of classical musicians, Pinchas and Eugenia Zukerman, Natalia grew up in New York studying first violin and then classical guitar. Her musical training is evident in her multi-layered song craftsmanship and her skilled guitar work.
