Joey Welz is best known as the pianist with Bill Haley and the Comets( MCA )he co-wrote the revised version of "rock around the clock" with its original writer - James E. Myers. Just before Jimmy died on may 9th,2001 in Bonita Springs Florida,the two rewrote this hip-rock version of the classic song. Joey wanted to up date it for the new generation and asked Jimmy to call it "rap around the clock".
This album is a tribute album from Joey to Jimmy Myers of a collection of all the songs they wrote and recorded together during the past 2 decades,many of which hit the worldwide icharts. Joey's country version of the song he co-wrote with Jimmy, "rock around the clock" (country )went to number one in europe in the mid 90s. |
