The album is a compilation of Classical guitar music from the Renaissance to 20th century compositions from South America. The album was firstly edited on cassette in 1990. The cassette became known as "the Blue Cassette". I decided to re issue this compilation after I was repeatedly approached by owners of the cassette who had worn it out and begged me to put it on CD. I am told that the two Villa-Lobos Preludes( I and IV) are the best recordings of them. I added to the CD edition here my favourite numbers of my first LP "Alte und neue Musik fur klassische Gitarre" (1983), the Weiss Fantasy and Dowland's Queen Elizabeth Galliard.
This collection includes (as far as I could research) only recordings of: "Passamezzo" (Anonymus), a fantastic little bouncy dance and L.Fuhrmann's nice "Bourree". |
