This elegant and evocative jazz vocalist engages the listener with beautiful emotion. She sensually and gracefully moves from the traditional with songs like 'Ne me quitte pas' and 'Besame Mucho' to the contemporary with the Beatles 'She's Leavign Home'.
Born of Irish parents who emigrated to Canada in the late sixties Ciara was always encouraged travel and following her heart! As a result she was determined to travel the globe and meet different people, see various places, and learn from other cultures. She attended the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England, which in turn took her to Belgium, Spain, Italy, France, Denmark, China, Mongolia and or course Ireland. Each of these places has had an impact on her musically and introduced her to a different style and genre, this is apparent in her own choice of material and use of her melifluous voice.
Originally trained as an opera singer, Ciara has no difficulty moving from the more classical to the contemporary, in fact her trademark is rapidly becoming her ability to sing well in many styles.
The songs on this debut CD were selected from a live show at the famous Le Select Bistro recorded during the Toronto Jazz Festival 2004. "While some of them have been with me for years, others are completely new. Songs always seem to have a way of finding their way into my life when they have something to teach me. We hope that you enjoy the three orignal songs on the album as well as the rest of this ecclectic mix of music!
