David Glukh Klezmer Ensemble was created in September 2001. The group is composed of David Glukh (piccolo trumpet), Ronn Yedidia (accordion), Dan Auerbach (violin). David Glukh- since his graduation from The Juilliard School in May 2000, David Glukh has been leading an active performance schedule as a member of the internationally renown Dallas Brass, performing 70+ concerts a year with this ensemble. In August 2002 he left the group in order to concentrate on his solo appearances and further developing of David Glukh Klezmer Ensemble. Mr.Glukh has performed live television and radio broadcasts on WFDU 89.1 FM, NPR, WQXR, Cable Networks of Connecticut, Rhode Island and Texas and Kol Ha Musica (Israeli Classical Music Radio Station). As a soloist, David has appeared with the Louisville Orchestra, Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, Jupiter Symphony, Lyric Theater Orchestra, Raanana Symphoniette, IDF Orchestra, Ulianovsk Symphony Orchestra and Ensemble Melodia. In 1995, Mr.Glukh received an award from the Israeli Musicians Union for excellence in performance. He was a recipient of the America Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship from 1990-2000. David Glukh was born in Moscow in 1975 where he attended the Gnesin's Music School. In 1990 he immigrated to Israel where he spent the following three years in the Thelma Yellin High School for the Arts. He later served in the Army Orchestra from 1993 to 1996.
Ronn Yedidia- was born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1960. His compositions have galvanized the attention of performing artists worldwide during the last decade. His works have been featured in major concert halls and documented on film, radio and television. He has won high critical acclaim from leading newspapers around the world, as both composer and pianist. He began his musical career as a child prodigy pianist, winning 1st Prize at the Young Concert Artists' Competition of Israel at the age of eight. His main teacher and mentor was Israel's first lady of the piano, Pnina Salzman, who herself was a protege of Alfred Cortot. Active as a performer for many years, Ronn decided at the age of 15 to shift his attention towards composition. In 1984 he entered the JuilliardSchool from which he holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in composition. Soon after his arrival at Juilliard, he was discovered by Sony Classical's Executive Producer, Thomas Frost, who produced a recording of his fusion works of classical & jazz. In 1985 his Second Piano Sonata was selected for radio exchange between Israel and numerous countries around the world. In 1987 he was presented on Israeli Television as Discovery of the Year in Classical Music, performing his Third Piano Sonata.
Dan Auerbach- is currently chair of the strings and ensembles dept. at the Calderone School of Music, as well as a substitute teaching assistant at the Juilliard Pre-College. As a soloist, he has appeared in all the major venues in NYC. As a chamber musician he enjoys collaborating with the NY Microtonal Ensemble, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Jewish American Society Chamber Ensemble, the West-End Players of the Dallas Symphony, Columbia University's Collegium Musicum, and the Jose Limon Dance Company. Recent projects include radio recordings for WFDU 89.1 FM, an upcoming CD release with the David Glukh Klezmer Ensemble, and a solo performance of the Bach Brandenburg #4 with the NY Microtonal Chamber Ensemble. Dan Auerbach holds a B.M and M.M. from Juilliard, where he studied with Dorothy DeLay, Lewis Kaplan, Felix Galimir, and Harvey Shapiro. |
