Spacious, cosmic electronic soundscapes that will take you to the edge...
Crossing over from the acoustic piano, Richard's ninth album has a more ambient, space-like feel to it. Using only his Kurzweil PC2x keyboard, Richard recorded these soundscapes completely in real time. There is no layering of tracks nor any sequencing of any kind throughout this album. All tracks were not edited for content -- these soundscapes, in essence, is the moment of time captured musically by Richard.
WARNING: RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO TURN UP THE VOLUME IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS CD. The volume levels are maximized for the full effect of the music. The bass will start to resonate throughout your stereo if your volume is too loud. If you live in a house of cards, I imagine it would come tumbling down with the vibrations emanating from this album. I will not be responsible for blown speakers.
Reviews:
"A tour de force of new material from this respected and talented composer/performer. This album is a slightly new departure for Richard Carr, already known for carefully crafted impressionistic acoustic piano works. Carr demonstrates that his sensitive and thoughtful approach to a highly personal art form is not diminished or distorted by use of a Kurzweil synthesizer to bring additional dimension to his music. For Richard Carr's fans and newcomers, alike, At Heaven's Edge is a feast for the senses and acknowledgement that his art knows no boudaries. "Capt." Christopher, WTUL FM |
