"Chanson Francaise" (original songs in French) Bossa Nova, Samba, & Jazz oriented.
Close your eyes, open your ears: you are in the same time in Brazil, Belgium, France, and also in California. Benoit Mansion's challenge is to gather on this album his three passions : French Song, Bossa Nova, and Jazz. The meeting of the musicians around his writing seasons it with a blend of exotic and indigenous flavours...
Recorded in San Francisco and in Europe with Brazilian, European, and American musicians, this album in French includes eleven original songs and one cover (Harry Connick Jr's " I've Got A Great Idea"). Who could have predicted that Jazz, Bossa Nova and Chanson Francaise would get along so well ? Benoit Mansion wrote the lyrics and several musics, but he also decided to work with very talented composers and arrangers like Stephane Martini, Mimi Verderame, Carlos Oliveira, or Xavier Tribolet. As for the musicians, on top of their great quality, you can hear the freedom of playing they had in the studio. And as a result, these songs breathe. A veiled message to Donald Fagen and Harry Connick Jr. add their special touch to this painting in which you can feel the Master's shadow : Tom Jobim.
